  • Provide timely and high quality technical assistance to customers, engineers, and other personnel in the design, development and calibration of vehicles, powertrain systems, sub-systems and components.
  • Supports engine and vehicle project work through fabrication of structural or sheet metal products.
  • Lift, position, and remove workpieces from machines to assist in fitting and welding.
  • Loads, stacks, and transports stock, tools, and work in process by hand or truck.
  • Hold tape and rods and marks reference points to assist in layout.
  • Cleans and scrapes metal preparatory to fabricating, welding, painting, or shipping.
  • Paints metal stocks.
  • Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations.
  • Take direction from customer or supervisor to fabricate or machine proto-type parts.
  • Weld various materials with high quality standards.
  • Do research on best material available for the task at hand.
  • General knowledge and ability to execute basic machining process (e.g. drill press, band saw, table grinder)
  • Able to make ideas and run with it for creativity of fabrication.
  • Proficiently use the MIG, TIG, Plasma Cutter and Oxy-Acetylene torch
  • Proficiently use the slip roll, finger brake, shear, bead roller and whitney punch
  • Read Isometric blueprints and produces prototype parts to the prints.
  • Use accurate measuring devices.
  • Picks up and trucks scrap from work areas.
  • Performs other routine duties.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school is desired
  • Minimum five years related experience and/or training.
  • Fabrication experience in the automotive industry is desired
  • Previous precision welding experience with multiple materials types
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
