Material Handler (Forklift Driver)

  • The Materials Handler controls the flow of raw and purchased parts in an expeditious manner and to supply the production operation with an adequate number of parts to perform the build schedule.
  • Pick up and move accepted material
  • Pick parts as required to meet the Build Schedule requirements.
  • Record movement of materials to, from, and within the production area.
  • Determine storage and handling methods required to support line stocking needs and parts presentation.
  • Line stock using carts, containers, racks, etc., developed for materials handling and to enhance the flow of goods.
  • Totally responsible for an assigned (block) or area which includes cleanliness, safety, and accuracy.
  • Train others in the use of equipment, techniques, processes of workflow, procedures, etc.
  • Perform cycle counts, audits, etc., to evaluate and improve the process, accuracy and work flow.
  • Assist in the execution of physical inventory activities.
  • Drive forklift and use pallet jacks.
  • Perform base preventative maintenance tasks associated with the use of forklifts as established by the Maintenance department (i.e.-check battery, oil, LP gas, hydraulic fluid, etc.)
  • Must be flexible to work overtime and any shift as required.
  • Willing to work a 7 day work week
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of processes and product in assigned area
  • Six Months of forklift experience required
  • Fork truck and pallet jack experience
  • Familiar with Kanban/pull systems
  • Forklift/narrow aisle truck experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
