Shipping Associate

  • The Shipping Associate is responsible for coordinating all outbound traffic with other Shipping Associates and the Master Schedulers in support of the production and shipment schedules. The Shipping Associate ensures efficient handling of all outgoing finished goods and indirect product while demonstrating an emphasis on internal and external Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Process Improvement, and Inventory Accuracy.
  • Perform all associated data entry required to support material controls.
  • Prepare shipping documents and run labels as required.
  • Ensure that product is wrapped, staged packed, and ready for shipment upon arrival of designated Carriers.
  • See that all carriers are loaded with appropriate BOL and customer product for departure in accordance to ship schedule and customer requirements.
  • Assist Linestockers in the movement of finished product to the Finished Goods Inventory.
  • Consolidate material of the internal warehouse and the finished goods locations.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy of the finished goods locations by ensuring execution of daily cycle count activities.
  • Make certain the proper disposition of damaged totes, racks, rejected materials and/or finished goods product.
  • Operate a forklift (greater than 50% of the time) properly and maintenance of all material handling equipment.
  • Determine storage and handling methods as needed in Warehouse and Finished Goods to support production line stocking needs, parts presentation, and efficient shipping of finished product to the Customer.
  • Support and Participate in problem solving groups related to work area issues.
  • Interact effectively with Logistics/Production Associates, Production Shift Supervisors and Lead Operators, Dispatchers, Drivers, and Customers as required.
  • Ensure departmental housekeeping is maintained to exceed satisfactory levels.
  • Ensure QS-9000, Safety, and Shipping policies and procedures are followed in assigned work area.
  • Responsible to substitute for other Material Handler and Receiving positions to provide adequate coverage in support of production.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Production Supervisor.
  • Must be flexible to work overtime and any shift as required.
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of two years experience in a warehouse or shipping production environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage time through organizing and multi-tasking.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of processes and product in assigned area.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Kanban/pull systems.
  • Understanding of MRP and JIT principles.
  • Contribute effectively in a team environment while demonstrating commitment to company values.
  • Possess basic computer skills; MS Office and SAP preferred.
