Forklift Technician

  • Responds to calls, diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs issues with fork trucks, personnel lifts, and material lifts
  • Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled for fork trucks, personnel lifts, and material jacks
  • Schedules outside technician repair services as needed
  • Understands basic electrical principles – DC voltage only
  • Reads and understands wire diagrams / schematics
  • Troubleshoots and repairs routine electrical component faults
  • Understands the function of all hydraulic components
  • Understands the principles of propane operation and safety as well as the function of all components of a propane fuel system
  • Understands basic operation of gasoline, propane and diesel engines
  • Understands the function and operation of all components of a manualshift / hydraulic drive transmission system
  • Understands the function and operation of all components of the brake system
  • Understands the function and operation of all components of the safety system
  • Follows all established procedures for troubleshooting, repair, and safety
  • Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and troubleshoots to locate causes of malfunctions
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
  • Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school majoring in Electromechanical Technology or others that include electrical circuits, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems will be considered or 3-10 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certified welder, welding and fabricating experience, pneumatic and hydraulic experience or education is required
  • Fork truck repair experience a plus
  • Must achieve in-housecertification
