Vehicle Emissions Lab Technician - 2nd Shift

VEL Technician - MAHLE Powertrain

  • The Vehicle Emissions Lab Technician will work with a group of technicians and engineers that support the operations of the Vehicle Emissions Lab and will provide vehicle chassis emission testing support on 2nd shift.
  • Assist with the execution of vehicle emissions testing on 2nd shift
  • Prepare vehicles for emission tests through fuel drains and fills, temperature soaks, carbon canister loading, tailpipe instrumentation, etc.
  • Work with the Vehicle Emissions Lab Engineer to configure the test setup per customer requirements
  • Install test vehicles on the chassis dyno, secure the vehicle, set up vehicle exhaust connections and position cooling fan.
  • Maintain a specialist working knowledge of new techniques, or concepts
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality of vehicle emissions test results
  • Resolve problems using solution that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts
  • Work with instrumentation engineers and management to continually improve efficiency and develop capabilities that match industry needs
  • Maintain awareness of and meet the requirements of Company Quality Systems
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations. Must act safely and be responsible for the safety of others around the work area
  • Employees duties are not limited to those stated above, but are inclusive of any task assigned by supervisor/manager
  • High School Diploma and 5+ years of chassis dynamometer testing or Associates Degree and 3-5 years of chassis dynamometer testing is required
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with chassis dynamometer testing and operations of CVS (Constant Volume Sampler) equipment is required
  • Understanding of safely operating compressed gas bottles
  • Knowledge of experience with the following software: AVL i60, iGem, Puma - is a plus
  • Experience in Welding, Shop Equipment, Fabrication or Mechanic work - nice to have
  • US Citizenship is required
