Supplier Quality Engineer

  • Leads PDT to determine which components require the APQP process.
  • Informs PDT of potential supplier quality risks.
  • Supports Project Buyer with supplier inquiries, selection and evaluations.
  • Conducts component reviews with suppliers (new suppliers/ new components/ critical parts).
  • Supplier VDA 6.3 audits
  • Component reviews
  • Lead APQP reviews according planning defined with supplier. APQP status (for APQP level A & B)
  • Process audit, run @ rate and review of PPAP report with suppliers (for APQP level A & B)
  • Supplier Development according to escalation process
  • Champion of Supplier Power Teams and Supplier Value Analysis / Value Engineering activities to assist in cost reduction activities.
  • Development of supplier goal agreements to ensure that improvements are established and maintained by supply base; track performance to goal agreements.
  • Visit suppliers to verify corrective actions as required. Identify potential cost reduction activities/ideas at supply base. Work with buyers to achieve successful implementation of cost reduction ideas.
  • Support purchasing initiatives, goals and objectives such as global rating systems, procedures, VA/VE implementation, strategic planning and sourcing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience in a Tier 1 environment.
  • Ability to identify problems and develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Strong understanding the in implementation requirements of TS-16949, AIAG procedures such as PPAP, FMEA, etc.
  • Knowledge of logistics processes and a strong understanding of component and product engineering. Experience in performance system audits, TS-16949 audits is a plus.
