Process Planning Engineer

  • The primary function of the Process Planning Engineer is to develop and implement new equipment, set up new processes, and lead continuous improvement projects. This includes project management, process development, equipment specifications, process documentation, operator training, preventative maintenance planning, equipment trouble-shooting, tooling development, and root-cause analysis.
  • Manage the acquisition of new equipment including writing the specifications, ordering and tracking progress, Plant preparation, installation, startup, trials, and release to Production.
  • Develop new process techniques as required from new product designs and needs.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process related issues to ensure a smooth production startup.
  • Create work instructions, preventive maintenance instructions, and train the appropriate personnel.
  • Support work to create Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs, and Control Plans.
  • Identify bottlenecks and other capacity constraints to improve Production output.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other departments and suppliers including those in remote locations.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or similar Engineering related discipline - Required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working out on the plant floor or Production floor - Required
  • Experience with Manufacturing, Process Development and Continuous Improvement - Required
  • Experience with developing specifications for tooling and equipment , procurement and management of internal and external suppliers - Preferred
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Time Studies, and APQP - Required
  • AutoCAD or other design software experience - Preferred
  • Knowledge of production operations, machine issues and plant operations - Required
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing, JIT, OEE, line sequencing, KANBAN, etc. - Preferred
  • High volume manufacturing experience within an Automotive environment - Nice to Have
