Controls Engineer

  • The Controls Engineer will Plan, Schedule, and Execute Embedded Controls Hardware, Firmware, Application Software and Software Engineering related activities for various MAHLE Powertrain Calibration and Controls Engineering related projects.
  • Work with gasoline, diesel, alternative fuel, bi-fuel, and hybrid powertrain controls
  • Create and maintain requirements document
  • Conduct and/or participate in design/architecture reviews
  • Support software, firmware and hardware design and development activities
  • Generate autocode using Embedded Coder® or TargetLink®
  • Develop, integrate, test, release and maintain high quality software
  • Support calibration activities, dynamometer and EMC tests
  • Develop and implement HIL, SIL, MIL, PIL testing
  • Lead and/or support sub-system, system, DYNO, and vehicle level integration activities
  • Bachelor's Degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar Engineering related degree - Required
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in developing embedded firmware and application software using C and Mathworks® suite of tools for Gasoline and Diesel Engine Controls - Required
  • Experience working with automotive micro-controllers and FPGAs
  • Experience supporting hardware and firmware development activity
  • Experience leading application development, software build and release activities
  • Experience leading/supporting test and integration activities on HIL, DYNO, and vehicle
  • Sensors, actuators, hardware, firmware, and software integration skills
  • Experience developing embedded hardware, firmware, and software in C, MATLAB® with Freescale® MPCxxxx family and Microchip® processors for Engine Controls
  • Experience with Simulink® code generation tools/target language compiler
  • Experience working with automotive communication and diagnostics protocols
  • Experience with Vector® CAN tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, CANape, CANgen, CANdesc, etc.
  • Knowledge of an event driven architecture and Real-Time Operating System
  • Experience working with dSPACE® suite of tools for HIL and TargetLink®
