Innovation Engineer

  • Assist with carrying out key functions related to Design and Development of new and innovative products by acting as project leader and project team member.
  • Prepare structured project plans, see that project tasks are carried out according to plan, and prepare status updates for review meetings
  • Review calculations, prototype designs and layouts, experimental data and laboratory results as required ensuring project targets
  • Interface with personnel from other departments including design, simulation, fabrication, testing, instrumentation, metallurgy, metrology and manufacturing plants to ensure efficient progress on assigned projects
  • Coordinate and conduct testing for components and materials, both internally and with outside prototype and test facilities
  • Maintain performance targets, budgets and timing for projects responsibility
  • Provide periodic reporting of development activities
  • Use computer assisted engineering and design software (Catia V5 proficiency, Creo or NX desirable), and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks
  • Analyze research data and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposals
  • Prepares design layout with internal tools, and detailed drawings. May direct a Designer (DT) to support him with the final design
  • Confers with Sales and Application Engineering personnel to review proposed design, resolve open issues and conduct design for final release
  • Consults with manufacturing before final release to verify feasibility of the design
  • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications
  • Evaluates engineering test results to eventually implement changes as a “Lesson Learned” task into new developments
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar Engineering related discipline from a four year university – Required
  • 2 or more years of professional experience in a related technical field – Required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Power Cylinder, Internal Combustion Engine Pistons or Engine related components - Required
  • Knowledge of new engine technologies
  • Project management experience as typical in the automotive industry – Required
  • Knowledge of Innovation processes - Desired
  • Strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint – Required
  • Fluency in English is mandatory and fluency in German desirable
