Quality Engineer - 2nd Shift

Plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties

  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation. Is responsible for managing customer specifications and developing corresponding MAHLE specifications (QAS Specifications) to ensure compliance with customer and MAHLE requirements.
  • Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
  • Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality assurance activities.
  • Manages the SAP Web8D data base, including logging complaints, controlling further processing and closing corrective action reports after verification of the effectiveness of corrective action.
  • Is responsible for monthly tracking and reporting of customer quality measurables including, but not limited to PRR’s, QR’s, NCMR’s, NCT’s, QCIR’s, PPM, etc.
  • Leads the advanced quality planning process (APQP) and maintains records for APQP activities for all customer teams.
  • Utilizes and provides guidance on quality systems and quality tools, such as MSA, APQP, FMEA, SPC and PPAP.
  • Is responsible for creating/maintaining packaging instructions according to customer-specific requirements.
  • Travels to the customer/supplier for pro-active visits, and as required, in response to quality concerns.
  • Monitors field warranty information from customers and responds to field warranty claims.
  • Maintains material master data in SAP, in cooperation with the other Engineers.
  • Is responsible for creating and maintaining Quality System Documentation including, but not limited to: Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA’s).
  • Overtime as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE #Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
