Manager, Head of Engineering

  • Promote awareness and provide direction to employees to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Acts as a champion for continuous improvement and provides direction to employees for process optimization.
  • Ensure customer expectations for product quality are met or exceeded.
  • Maintain and improve IATF systems for procedures for manufacturing process.
  • Create, develop and update IATF procedures and work instructions as required.
  • Conducts meetings with the Engineering team to establish, delineate and review policies and procedures and to establish responsibilities for attaining objectives.
  • Directs department activities to design manufacture products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
  • Resolves problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies or concepts.
  • Confers with management, production and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness and customer demand for new and existing products.
  • Reviews technical problems and procedures and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
  • Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.
  • Create a culture which supports disciplined & systematic process management; data driven decision making; continuous improvement aligned with established strategy & objectives.
  • Serve as a leader of change and innovation. Challenge status quo, effectively influence others (at all levels of the organization) to embrace change, overcome resistance and seek out outstanding ideas and implement.
  • Manages maintenance team activities such as machine repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Assists in ensuring that MAHLE’s reputation is not compromised.

Directly supervises 6 to 8 employees in the Engineering and is responsible for the facility Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE #Bachelor’s Degree required (Engineering is strongly preferred); MBA desired. #5+ years of related plant experience in a Tier 1 setting preferably supporting Heavy Duty OEMs. #3+ years supervisory experience. #Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility with all Plant staff members. #Action oriented – in a structured way that aligns with the business goals, customer needs and strategic roadmaps. #Excellent proven Problem Solving skills is a must. #Ability to handle projects with multiple work streams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of business problems. #Strong initiative and the ability to work well in a team environment. #Knowledge of ISO14001 and IATF 16949 standards. #Strong team management and organization skills required. #Ability to generate detailed requirements and demonstrated persistence to manage projects through completion.
