Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, measure, modify, instrument, set up, reassemble, and install gasoline and diesel engines to fit customer specifications and needs through the delivery of accurate data collected as part of dynamometer testing.
  • Run, maintain and keep engines in service as required throughout the duration of testing.
  • Consult with engineer and other personnel regarding engine information such as design, specifications and purpose, and types of material to be used to assemble product, and accurately set up and run the test to ensure accuracy of data and results.
  • Build, operated and disassemble engines on dynamometer test stands.
  • Analyze written specifications, drawings, rough sketches, and verbal instructions to plan, layout and determine sequence of operations.
  • Determine special instrumentation and tooling needs, design and machine these items as needed. Design and make dynamometer set up hardware as needed.
  • Keep records as required to fulfill test requirements.
  • Inspect engines in use to determine wear and usability (Compression, Cylinder leakage, Valve tip height, Valve lash, Bore scope inspections for example).
  • Work with other disciplines within the department, such as the machine shop when needed in making and modifying parts.
  • Select and work with outside vendors to perform needed services.
  • Installs parts and materials such as sheet metal covering, hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, lubricants and batteries as required.
