Your Role & Responsibilities

  • The Motor Control Software Engineer will work as part of the Product Engineering team developing the Electrically Driven AC Compressor, which is a Mechatronic product needed in conjunction with future Hybrid or fully Electrified Powertrains. This position contributes to the Electrical Compressor development activity by driving the development of the Software required to control the Electric Motor and to provide Controls and Diagnostics functionality on a system level.
  • Coordinate and collaboratively develop firmware to AC compressor product with supplier
  • Develop algorithms for diagnostics and fault treatment routines in close collaboration with hardware engineering
  • Establish software validation plans and coordinate test programs
  • Assist with preparation and execution of test units
  • Develop usage profile with controls engineer and customer calibration engineer and derive future software functionalities required
  • Analyze test data and organize results relative to internal or customer specifications with observations and conclusions
  • Apply engineering practices to reach design solutions
  • Release appropriate software versions
  • Initiate and lead software changes by following appropriate change procedures
  • Participate in innovation, product cost and quality improvement initiatives
  • Participate in cross-functional teams related to customer program launch activity
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturing plants to insure product design for high value and manufacturability

Your Skills & Strengths

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineer (BSEE) or Computer Engineering (BSCE) - Required; Masters Degree is Preferred
  • No Immigration Sponsorship Offered For This Position
  • 7 or more years of Software Development experience for Mechatronics - Required
  • Strong Programming Experience in C, C++ Assembly Language - Required
  • Demonstrated experience in BLDC Motor/Motor Drive Controls, Position/Velocity Feedback Devices, Algorithms for Sensorless operation - Required
  • Experience with 16 bit and 32 bit Microcontrollers - Required
  • Familiarity with Software Standars ISO26262 and MISRA - Required
  • Automotive/Residential/Commercial HVAC experience - Desired
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good written and oral skills – ability to convey technical concepts
  • Ability to manage time and organize effectively with multiple projects
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Good results orientation and strong work ethic
